Misunderstanding Satire

I have a great amount of respect for the Special Olympics. They do great work.

Unfortunately, they are currently being run by a dumbass.

The new movie, Tropic Thunder, is a satire on the movie industry as a whole, and especially about how it uses certain groups. From the bit about Robert Downey Jr.'s character undergoing surgery to become "black," to Ben Stiller's character having come off of a movie called 'Simple Jack,' which featured the tagline "Once upon a time there was a retard," it is blatantly obvious who is being skewered here.

It is also patently obvious that the world is full of dumbasses who can't understand this. Timothy Shriver, appearing this morning on Fox & Friends with a special olympian complained primarily that "they weren't included," in the movie. He then used the special olympian for sympathy.

What this Class 4 disptick doesn't realize, is that they weren't the ones being made fun of. Complaining about the use of the word 'retard' in this context would be like complaining about the use of the word 'nigger' in Blazing Saddles. It just shows you to be a dumbass.

I just complained about idiots who don't understand satire a few days ago. Now, we are treated to another display of epic dumbassitude.

More here.

Edited 1:39 PM. Since "moron" and "idiot" are actually clinical terms for mental disabilities, I replaced them both with "dumbass" to avoid any confusion.
